An Israeli medical company is developing what it hopes will be a drug for controlling the intake of food and if it succeeds with its plans, new hope can be offered for millions of people across the world who suffer from obesity.
OBEcure from Tel Aviv-based Bio Light has already undertaken trials in Finland and is looking to make its product something people will one day be able to get.
"Our solution, unlike the prescription drugs currently on the market, has both a proven safety record and no side effects," Bio Light founder Ronit Gross told Israel21c.
The solution is based on a drug that has helped people with vertigo and can be developed to deal with obesity.
Recently the company received approval from the US Federal Drug Administration to continue with its development of the OBEcure and it hopes its product will be on the market within the next couple of years.
"the world urgently needs a drug that is safe and effective against obesity," added Dr Ami Eyal, chief executive of the company. "Our solution, unlike the prescription drugs currently on the market, has both a proven safety record and no side effects," he added.
