Software giant Microsoft is beefing up its research and development in Israel with the appointment of its vice president of TV to oversee technology development in Israel.
Moshe Lichtman, who has been with Microsoft since 1991 will be looking to increase Microsoft's investment in israel starting with a new research lab in Tel Aviv as well as working with other high-tech companies and venture capitalists.
The new research and development will complement and existing facility established in Haifa and will increase the number of employees from its current workforce of 400.
"Iím excited over the opportunity to lead Microsoftís expansion of technology in Israel," said "Lichtman. "Iím a true believer in the unique talent and creativity of Israeli scientists and engineers."
Microsoft's chief executive Steve Ballmer added: "Moshe Lichtmanís vision and vast experience of product development and management makes him the ideal candidate for the task of driving forward our R&D efforts in Israel and furthering our cooperation with Israelís high-tech industry and venture capital sector."
