The number of British tourists visiting Israel in the first three months of 2006 is up from the previous year. A total of 36,833 travelled to Israel in 2006 compared to 32,351 in 2005.
British tourists now account for over 10% of those travelling to the country from around the world.
According to an Israeli tourism spokesperson, the increase is due to competitive offers in the market place and renewed interest in the country.
"Israel offers great value for money for anyone coming," the spokesperson said. "That coupled with the range of activities in the country makes Israel a great destination."
A total of 465,000 tourists from across the world travelled to the country in the first three months of the year and tourism bosses say their goal is to have a total figure of three million by the end of the year.
