Roni Ben-Hur
Roni Ben-Hur

Roni Ben-Hur has been recording albums for a decade and in that time, this Israeli jazz musician has been winning fans across the globe with his musical delights.

With four albums to his name, his latest Signature has set a standard with its laid down sounds.

Signature is the perfect melting pot of jazz, accessible for those who are not big jazz fans and for those who are aficionados, keeps it real.

Ben-Hur has been based in New York since 1985 and in that time, as well as working as a musician, he has also been teaching music to both adults as well as children. A summer jazz camp is one of the projects he has also been involved in.

"Teaching is something I feel very passionate about. I like to provide students with valuable information to help them see the bigger picture," he says. "They must always remember that music is art, and art is for the sake of beauty for all people,

His family background saw emigration from Tunisia to Israel and he believes that Sephardic music has helped play a part in developing his jazz skills. "though no one in my family was a professional musician, music was a central part of our life. Every celebration and holiday included singing and dancing, mostly with the accompaniment of hand drums. Music elevated us in times of happiness as well as hardship. This experience taught me the strength and power of music."
