BreathID

Having to take a liver biopsy may soon be a thing of the past thanks to new technology from an Israeli company.
Hadasit, which is a subsidiary of Hadassah Medical Organization has acquired the rights to BreathID from Oridion Systems which allows a patient to breath into a device and can then determine if they are suffering from hepatitis C or other liver diseases. Within 40 minutes the results are then made available.
The medical breakthrough means painful liver biopsies could be replaced by the BreathID which will have a positive impact on patients.
"The establishment of BreathID will allow us to advance the progress of diagnosing infectious liver diseases and may even reveal new ways of treating these diseases," Hadasit chief executive Dr Rafi Hofstein told the Jerusalem Post.
