An Israeli company that allows website owners to maximise revue opportunities on the content that appears on their site has secured $7m investment to expand its operations.
Kontera based in Herzliya and which also has offices in San Francisco in the United States secured the funding from Sequoia Capital and Lehman Brothers for its in-text advertising solutions.
"This round of funding will aid Kontera as we grow and become the de facto in-text advertising solution for online publishers, advertisers and users," said Kontera chief executive and founder Yoav Shaham.
For advertisers, the Kontera technology allows their products to be associated with certain words that appear on a site and get readers interested to know more about them.
Through its own advertising base, Kontera claims to have thousands of advertisers who pay them to display the ads on content pages. Revenue is then shared with the content owner.
