IKEA Israel registered record sales in August with the company's revenues reaching NIS 52 million ($11.5 million) – a 17 percent rise in comparison to sales in August last year.
On August 20, the company's sales reached a record NIS 2.5 million ($555,555), the highest single-day sales since IKEA ventured into Israel's furniture market.
The number of visitors also rose significantly with 350,000 people visiting the company's store in Netanya in August, a 9 percent rise in comparison to August last year.
The Ministry of Interior will deliver its ruling on IKEA's request to open an IKEA shopping village in Rishon Lezion.
Green groups are opposed to the plan and have intensified pressure on the Ministry of Interior not to approve the project.
Gil Yodfat of the Israel Ecology Movement sent a harsh letter to the Ministry of Interior, in which he warned that the construction works to build IKEA's commercial center in the Rishon Lezion industrial zone were illegal.
