The Bank of Israel announced that, despite the war in Lebanon, foreign investment in Israel totalled $480 million during the war.
Foreign investment totaled $358 million in August alone. The figures show that foreign investment in Israeli securities during the war totaled $78 million.
Foreign direct investment totaled $402 million. Foreign investment in Israel totaled $16 billion in January-August 2006, 62 percent more than the $9.9 billion invested in 2005 as a whole.
Foreign investment in Israeli securities totaled $7.8 billion in January-August, 72 percent more than the $4.4 billion invested in 2005 as whole.
Foreign direct investment totaled $8.2 billion in January-August, 46 percent more than the $5.6 billion invested in 2005 as a whole.
Foreign investment in Israeli stocks traded on international bourses also increased. Foreign investment in offering of Israel shares on international exchanges exceeded USD 8 billion in January-August.
Foreign investment in Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) listed stocks was $27 million in January-August, compared with $2.14 billion in 2005 as a whole.
Foreign direct and financial investment in Israel totaled $33.1 billion in January 2004-August 2006, of which $15.6 billion was direct investment.
